This is a far superior quote to compare lending and giving principles in the major 3 religions of the world. That is Hinduism, Islam and Christianity.
When we give we forget. When we lend we expect back. Giving is charity. Lending may have commercial preferences and set terms.
Allah may make your 1 Rupee into 1 Lakh Rupees. Otherwise too. It is will of Allah. But if you demand Rs.2000 per month as interest for the Rs.1 Lakh you give, you prefix the benefit. You are acting against the will of Allah the most benevolent and merciful who might intend to make your Rs. 1 Lakh into Rs.1 Crore. Or may take it away fully too. So, by lending money on interest, that is prefixing the profit and also by doing insurance of your life or goods, you are defying the will of Allah and hence it is ‘ haram ‘. Bad act against the will of Allah.
Christianity is also treading in similar way but with subtle difference.
In Islam, even Allah can not write off your liability. If you have taken loan, or if you have any other liability in you life in the earth, you should finish the liability. Repay the loan. Else, you will not be admitted into the wonderful Islamic version of heaven where in every door opens to a new palace and every water is tasty in different way and in every palace a virgin wife with a different beauty is waiting for you. To get into that palace, you repay your debts and come.
In Christianity, you can lend and forget.
What is the science of Hinduism? It encourages both. Lending and giving. It accepts giving interest and taking interest.
Without applying macro economics, many Islamist tend to project Hinduism in bad light because interest burden has ruined the life of many. But, if other religions are just a book, Hinduism is a library. There are elaborate Dharmic principles involved in Giving and Lending.
They are covered by us in another chapter ‘ Dharmam ‘.
The Science in Hinduism ensures uniform distribution of wealth among all human species with protection enabled for all living creatures. The economic principles of Islam and Christianity creates a permanent divide between rich and poor and total upheaval of society and equitable distribution of wealth is not possible.
